As we approach June in the hope we have a summer, we had a typical irish evening with torrential rain in Drogheda and sun shining in Ardee. That was the way the results turned out for the respective teams.

Monday 24th May

Our u14 Girls hosted the Geraldines in the Div 1 league encounter. The Gers started strong with 2 early goals and quick points. This resulted in the Blues ladies chasing the game. But they showed real grit and never gave up on the result until the final whistle. There was plenty of positives to be taken from the game.

Final score U14 Girls

Newtown Blues 1-05

Geraldines 6-07

This leaves the team in 4th position after 8 games.

Meanwhile out in Ardee the U16 Boys took on St. Mary’s Ardee. This is always an entertaining encounter, in particular for the neutral and it didn’t disappoint with some great scores and defensive plays from both teams. The Blues lads took early control and going the 2nd half had build up a substantial lead reaching 10points at one stage. But Ardee came back for one final rally closing the gap to within 3 points midway through the 2nd half.

But the lads showed great composure and closed out the game with a great win.

Final score U16 Boys

Newtown Blues 1-21

St. Mary’s 3-08

And that wasn’t all the action over, our U13 Boys were out in Castlebellingham playing the combination team O’Connells/Stabannon.

The teams put on a great display for the crowd with plenty of scores leaving everyone guessing how the game might finish up. Thankfully our lads finished on top with an impress win.

Final score U13 Boys

Newtown Blues 5-09

O’Connells/Stabannon 4-08

Well done to all the players, teams and mentors. 🙌🙌

Over the weekend on Sunday 23rd we had the U9 Girls hosting a blitz alongside the Louth ladies as they had a challenge against Carlow. And that wasn't all on Sunday our U7 Boys & Girls were in action in St. Nicholas.

Our Senior ladies were in Togher in the Winter Cup semi final with an unlucky result against Naomh Fionnbarrs. These sees them focus their attention on the start of the Div one league on Sun. 5th June.

Our Senior men travelled to Cooley on Saturday 22nd and came home with a great win despite giving themselves a challenge towards the end of the first half. But the lads stayed composed and on top. This sees them on top of Division One after 6 games.

Our U14 Boys played the Geraldines on Saturday afternoon and their win sees them secure a semi final place on Sat. 28th @2.30pm in the Blues v Roche Emmets.
